Resolution approving Department of the Environment Funding Recommendations for San Francisco Carbon Fund grant awards to eight organizations.
WHEREAS, since July 2009, the City and County of San Francisco has levied an innovative carbon fee on municipal airline travel; and,
WHEREAS, revenue generated supports the San Francisco Carbon Fund, which is administered by the Department of the Environment for projects that mitigate and sequester carbon emissions; and,
WHEREAS, the San Francisco Carbon Fund awards grants and contracts to businesses, community-based organizations and schools for local projects that mitigate and sequester carbon and ultimately improve San Francisco’s natural infrastructure and enhance the quality of the living environment; now therefore, be it,
RESOLVED, the Commission approves the award of San Francisco Carbon Fund grants, totaling $223,000 to be disbursed during CY 2014-2017 in the following way:
