Mayor Breed Announces SF Climate Week 2024

MAYOR BREED ANNOUNCES SF CLIMATE WEEK 2024    

The San Francisco Environment Department will join Climatebase to host the City’s second annual week-long climate event this April  

San Francisco, CA – Today, Mayor London N. Breed announced that San Francisco will host SF Climate Week 2024, a week-long environmental celebration from April 21 to April 27 that will emphasize the role of unity, innovation, community, and technology in creating a sustainable future among individuals, businesses, community organizations and entrepreneurs focused on climate solutions. The event comes on the heels of the successful Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference last November where world leaders discussed global climate action and sustainability.   

SF Climate Week 2024 will play a crucial role in advancing discussions and actions on climate change. Events are scheduled throughout the day and across the City. From fireside chats to social events or industry panels, there are several ways San Franciscans can join the climate action movement, including scheduled runs, nature hikes, bike tours, and multiple opportunities to appreciate the rich biodiversity that San Francisco has to offer. Additionally, there will be entrepreneur round tables, with opportunities to connect with Venture Capitalists to pitch climate tech solutions and business plans.

In 2023, the first SF Climate Week was one of the largest climate gatherings in the world. SF Climate Week 2024 will have more events, more opportunities to get involved, and ultimately build a larger coalition to advance climate action. Most importantly, this year’s event will take the City’s annual celebration of the environment a step further not only by addressing climate change, but fostering climate innovation, supporting new markets, and enhancing overall resilience – all essential elements for creating sustained and sustainable economic growth.  

This 2nd annual Climate Week will again be organized by Climatebase in partnership with the San Francisco Environment Department.

Just like San Francisco is emerging as the world’s leader in AI technology, the City is already an epicenter for climate tech. Entrepreneur round tables, executive panels, and similar events will provide an additional platform for various climate partners, including the business community, to come together, collaborate, and exchange ideas on sustainable practices. This format ensures that SF Climate Week will be more than just an environmental celebration; it will be a gathering of minds, drawing upon the City's legacy of innovation and leadership, and uniting people from diverse backgrounds and sectors to spark ideas that address the most pressing issues of our time.
